New Graphics Card needed
I'm looking for a graphics card that is able to play the game Crysis. I'm on a budget between 100-200$. Got any recommendations?

What interface do you have on the motherboard, PCI, AGP or PCI-e? Can your PSU take the extra power draw and does it have a dedicated PCI-e 4-pin connector?
Also, another thing to remember is that even a 8800 Ultra won't play Crysis smoothly at maximum settings yet, well it may do at really low resolution but who runs at 1024x or less these days?

My gtx runs Crysis on high barely, at 1280*1024, no AA.
It looks better on medium-low with AA on though....

so 100-200 bucks? since i couldn't find a 8800 GT between that price range on newegg i will suggest the following
7950 gt dx9 - flaw no dx 10 runs almost the same bench as 8600gts
or
8600gts dx10 - more features in game with dx 10

Hmm, I guess sending links to a Newegg search is against the rules. I hadn't realized though, sorry mods.

Consider looking at ATI's new 3850 or 3870 Radeons, they're cheaper cards compared to most and offer a decent amount of power. According to tomshardware.com's benchmarking of these new cards, the 3870 can actually play Crysis decently enough, but not so well with the 3850...
At this point wait for new drivers for cards to be released to help optimize performance for games like Crysis (ATI hasnt released a new set since october), perhaps benchmarks and tests could reveal totally different results
Please though, do not limit yourself to just one brand in your decision

Wait a little while, up your budget, invest in the new G-K 65nm 8800GTS SSC. It will be out in December, retail 300-350, will outperform the 8800Ultra by 12%+

Ah yeah forgot about the worthless dollar nowadays :P
8800GT is around 200 euro here. If TS wants to play Crysis, dont go with anything less than 8800GT though.

The HD3850 is your best bet. You can grab one on Newegg for $180 and its much faster than the 8800GTS for the price.

From what I've read, there isn't any hardware present today that can run Crysis at any respectable frame rate (yet). Its engine is intended for the next-generation gaming hardware as opposed to what's out today. Given the above, I'm going to pass on Crysis until the hardware can catch up with the software demands.
